Physical therapy, sometimes abbreviated as PT, is often prescribed after an injury or a disability. With regulated exercise and other means, such as electrotherapy, and thermotherapy, it helps improve or restore your physical capabilities and your fitness level, and it alleviate the pain.
Massage therapy –one of the oldest healthcare practices known– consists of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and causing movement of the body. Generally applied with the hands, massage therapy sometimes involves forearms and elbows.
The word "chiropractic" simply means "done by hand". It relates to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical defects of the musculoskeletal system, by focusing on the entire nervous system, in conjunction with all other systems of the human body.
Acupuncture is based on the principles of Asian medicine: Yin and Yang, concept of meridians in which the vital energy, or Qi, flows through the body. Its method consists in introducing metal needles under the skin to stimulate specific points, in order to regulate the Qi and restore the energy balance of the body.
